Party Time!

With Matt and Cecily’s wedding right around the corner, it is party time! We had a ton of fun at their couples shower last week.

Such cute décor!

So excited for the happy couple! Which somehow I managed to not even get a picture of the whole evening!! Good thing we had a professional photographer at the party!

Girls on the Go

Avery and I recently took a girls trip to the coast.  Will had a baseball commitment at home so Matt stayed with him so she and I, and Sunshine of course, hit the road.

A stop at the Neuse Sports Shop resulted in Avery modeling some deer antlers!

Playing at Radio Island before the rain set in. She loved the “muddy mud” and made lots of mud pies and mud pits. She has ruined more than one swimsuit in this mud!

My sweet girl was my lunch date in the Kinston McDonald’s!

I had fun spending time with her but I was glad to get back to Raleigh to my boys!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Last month I turned 35. Blugh. I don’t want to think about that because it sounds O-L-D.

When you are my age and in my station of life, birthdays don’t take on quite the fanfare they used to. People kept asking what I was doing for my birthday and my answer was always “homework help and cooking dinner”. Ha.

A few pics of my birthday dinner (Domino’s pizza) and the cake the Matthew and the kids made me. Please excuse the kitchen disaster behind me. This is what it always looks like at 7PM. I promise it looks better by 9PM.

The kiddos are in their underoos because they had been playing dress-up before dinner.

Anyway, Matt and the kiddos surprised me with a bike for my birthday. I have been wanting one for a while so it was a great gift!

Will was actually cheering me on…and I think in a little disbelief that his mom could ride a bike!

1 vs. 2

Yes, it’s true that the 2nd child doesn’t always get all the pomp and circumstance as the first. But truth be told, I did a pretty crappy job on both of their baby books so…..

But as I was cleaning out the bonus room closets this past weekend, I came across their weekly infant feeding charts where I kept track of when they ate and for how long as well as their dirty diapers (because the pediatrician ALWAYS asked).

Here are Will’s….several weeks worth of charts, front and back, including tons of handwritten notes detailing out all the moments of the day.

And here are Avery’s; not even 7 full days’ worth!!!

But hey, she survived!!

A Real Cut

Last week Avery had her first “real” haircut. Not a trim. A cut. A several inches off cut. She needed it badly…..long stringy hair that loved to stay tangled and a little girl who didn’t love to stand still for long periods of time for de-tangling.

A “before” shot…it was a kinky hair day thanks to an overnight braid.
