Memorial Day Weekend

Y’all know I’m a beach girl through and through. I love nothing better than to have some salt water in my hair and sand between my toes.  I was so glad to get to the coast for Memorial Day, awful traffic and all!

Saturday morning Mom and I did a little shopping while the kids and Matt went to Fort Macon. No pics to show. Boo!!! But of course Will loved the fort and was very upset they couldn’t stay for the canon firing later that day. Avery, on the other hand, was very glad they weren’t staying for the canon firing!

Wait, I should back up. Saturday morning at 4AM the girls woke up. This was the first time they had been to the beach since I think Christmas 2012. They love it down there so they get up E-A-R-L-Y. So we got up too and got them out of the house so everyone else could sleep. Off to the café, the boardwalk, the beach and the café again. I went for a run on the waterfront too. The girls were happy to have sand between their toes too. I guess they get that from their momma!

That afternoon Uncle Matt and Aunt Cecily took us out in the boat. We went to a shoal behind Carrot Island….as we were idling up to shore a bunch of sharks swam by. Like big sharks. At least to me. Sharks are kind of like snakes….any shark or snake is a bad one!

And there were huge sting rays too! Thankfully we weren’t affected but you better believe I didn’t get in the water!

Sunday morning the boys and the girls got up early…the boys to fish, the girls to be adventurous. Too bad for them I was tired and didn’t take them anywhere!

And off they go!

You know my boy, he LOVES him so sleep, as evidenced by this picture!

Sunday we went to my childhood stomping grounds at the beach, Oceana. I’ve spent a many of days swimming by this pier!

Will spent a long time with his skim board. Well, technically it was Uncle Matt’s, but I think it may be Will’s now!

Both kiddos love boogey boarding, but somehow I don’t have a pic of Will on his!

A Fun Weekend

The weather finally turned nice in May this year, which was great for all the fun activities! A few weekends ago was no exception as we had a jam packed, but fun weekend.

We started Friday night with a carnival at Will’s school. Just think, next year I will say “Will and Avery’s” school!

Wheeeeee!!!!

Then Sunday evening, everyone came over to celebrate Mimi’s birthday. We celebrated with fried shrimp and fish. Yes, shrimp 2 days in a row…..which was nice since we rarely have them!

Mother’s Day 2014

Just wanted to commemorate Mother’s Day this year. The kids were sweet and posed for this picture with me that morning. Notice my necklace Will made me. It is was the perfect compliment to the jewelry box I received.

photo 1

The best part about my jewelry box is that one whole drawer was filled with Starburst!!! Of course I keep catching Avery in my room at like 6AM, sampling one or two!

Will did a cute little Mother’s Day worksheet about me at school. It cracks me up that one of the things he loves best about me is how I talk to the cars in front of us. Hey, at least he didn’t say I yelled!!! And wave my hands a lot!!

One last celebration

We finally get to Avery’s birthday day! It was a school/work day but we had a little celebratory dinner. She picked out dinner….sandwiches and Campbell’s princess soup. Easy enough for this working mom!

We had some left over birthday cake for dessert. Yum!

Everyone gets a little festive!
