Fall Ball

Fall baseball wrapped up a few weeks ago. It was a long fall season but thankfully the weather didn’t turn cold until truly the day after his season ended! He was on the Giants and had a really great coach and group of boys. Will himself had a really good season and we saw so much improvement in both his fielding and hitting over the course of the fall.

A few pics from throughout the season….

Near the end of the season he was good for a double or triple almost every game. Watching him raise his fists in excitement on the base was so much fun!

For the end of season celebration, there was a parents vs kids kickball game, which was a lot of fun, followed by pizza and the trophy presentations. When Will’s name was called, Avery walked right up there with him, jokingly pushing him from behind. She stood right there beside him and listened intently to the coach as he talked about Will. Will got the most improved infielder award. I think she even tried to hold one of his trophies. And when it was over, Avery followed Will right back to his seat.

Matt remarked afterwards that it probably didn’t even occur to Avery that Will really should have gone up there by himself. She just adores him so much, I think she just assumes wherever he goes, she goes. And bless her heart, she has spent a lot of hours of her life on the sidelines of a ball field so she probably does deserve a trophy!

Right now we’re just enjoying our 2.5 month break before baseball starts again! We decided to take a break from basketball this winter…..I am sure we will pick it back up next year.

A Baby Shower

The morning after Halloween, Avery and I got in the car and headed east for Cecily’s baby shower. Ironically in 2013 I also was in the car bright and early the morning after Halloween, but the visit was for a much different reason. Anyway, I am sure I hoped Avery would sleep on the trip after a late night trick or treating. I am sure she probably didn’t.

We made good time (aka, only had to stop once for a potty break) so we got to the venue a little early. Avery was able to occupy herself by helping out with a little bit of the last minute decorating. She worked on the centerpieces and confetti! Such a good little helper.

The food was sooo yummy and plentiful and the cake and decorations were so cute. The shower was held at an old historic train depot.

Cecily received so many nice things for the baby!! And of course she had a little helper!

These are 2 of my mom’s best friends. I can’t even begin to describe all the wonderful ways they have helped our family in the last 3 years. Avery loves her Miss Teresa and Miss Kelly!

We like to think that this group right here raised my brother! The 2 younger girls are his age and they have been inseparable basically since birth. Definitely one of the perks of small town living!

And then we had to get Miss Avery in the picture. She was initially very upset Uncle Matt wasn’t going to have a girl, but once we explained to her that she would be his one and only princess, she has since perked up about the situation!

Avery and I hung out on the playground for a bit. Until she saw Uncle Matt, who had come to transport the gifts home, and ran across the grass towards him and jumped in his arms.

Love this picture! And can’t wait to meet that little boy!

Halloween 2014

Pounding out all those vacation posts wore me out! Finally let’s get to life since vacation, which hasn’t been nearly as fun by the way!

Halloween fell on a Friday night this year, which made everything a little more fun because bed times could be stretched without such fatal results the next morning (aka nobody wants to get out of bed for school).

These 2 spent more time dancing than painting pumpkins I think!

Will was insistent that our house be super scary this year. I indulged him a bit.

This glow in the dark skull he and I managed to get way up in this tree actually was pretty freaky…it scared me every morning I went to walk the dogs in the dark!

IMG_4341

Although I don’t think he thought it was all scary!

Before hitting the streets, we fueled up on a quick dinner of mummy dogs, scary teeth mouth thingys and mac n cheese. I mean bones n cheese.

My little pirate and Barbie skeleton!

A couple of blocks down the street, a neighbor had built a 20x20 Haunted House in their front yard. All the kids LOVED it and ran through it about 100 times. All of them but Avery.

Our trick or treating group! They were really fast….surprised I got them to stop for a picture!

A few pics from the night.

Little Sis hung right there with the big kids all night!

Checking out their loot when they got home. As soon as they went to bed, I swiped a bunch for their Christmas stockings. And for me!

She doesn’t love him any at all. Not one bit.

We will be eating on all this candy until the 4th of July!!
