Day 2 –Epcot
We started out bright and early again, getting to Epcot for
rope drop so we could book it over to Soarin’. Avery freaked out in line and
she and I went back out to wait on the boys.
At first I was upset she was not riding much, especially after she just
makes the 40” height requirement to ride a lot of this stuff but I’m starting
to realize she is just enjoying Disney in different ways than Will is enjoying
things. Thank goodness for the Rider Swap option so both Matt and I can see
Disney through both kids eyes, albeit not at the same time.
Avery was visibly shaken over the décor in the line for
Soarin’ (think dark) so I had to calm her down. Enter Duffy. The made up to
make me spend more money but oh so soft teddy bear. Oh, I guess he is Mickey’s
bear, which is how they make him a Disney character. Unfortunately the pickings
were slim around the Soarin’ ride so this is what we got!!! But oh my, she loves this bear. It has a
different name every time you ask her about it but this bear has gone
everywhere with us and gives her something to bury her head in when she is
scared. Did I mention he was $30!??!?!?!?!?
We had a fun morning touring around Future World. In
addition to Soarin’, which Will rode twice, we did Living with the Land, The
Circle of Life, The Seas with Nemo and Innoventions. We also met Chip & Dale. Matthew must have had the
camera for most of these b/c we don’t have many pictures.
In Innoventions, the kids loved The Great Piggy Bank
Adventure. They were given a piggy bank and went to different interactive
stations where they were given the chance to try and save money. At the end,
their piggy bank was measure for how well they did.
These next few pics are priceless.. Matt and I were standing
behind the kids, watching them do this first game where you moved the little
shelves to get the money to fall into the “Savings” jars. All of a sudden I
realize Avery has tilted one of her shelves and is funneling all of her money
into the “Outfit” jar. Matt and I just DIED of laughing because she is a
fashion diva. Can’t even read but somehow figured out which jar was for
clothes!!!
A few more pics from Innoventions…..
We stopped for a picnic lunch and as usual, the animals
found us. Matthew is some sort of animal whisperer and Will has followed suit.
They had the ducks eating out of their hands, all while I protested!! And then, a squirrel crawled INTO the bottom
of our stroller and sat on top of my purse! I was so freaked out I couldn’t
even scream.
Funny how you spend all this time and money and all the kids
(both big and small!!) want to do is play with the animals!
We also spent some time in the Fairy Gardens.
We headed over to World Showcase after lunch where we rode
Gran Fiesta and then meandered around a bit. Will wanted to make the trek
around the lake. Easy for you to say mister since you are riding in the
stroller!!!! But we did and guess who we
ran into….Snow White!! She was getting ready to go on break and I thought Avery
was going to die. But she was back about 20 minutes later. The kids were entertained by the toy train
while we waited.
And then it was time to meet the favorite
princess in our house. We had to wait in line for
probably 10 minutes which is about 9 minutes and 45 seconds too long for a
little girl who has missed nap time and has been waiting for Snow White for what
must seem like forever. When it was her turn, she sprinted up to Snow White and
just tackled her! Avery was wearing a
shirt with Snow White and a few of the dwarfs on it and she and Snow White
chatted about that for a while. I took the autograph book up and prompted Avery
to tell Snow White about Avery’s upcoming Snow White themed birthday party.
This was one of my favorite parts of the whole vacation. Avery gazed longingly
at Snow White and said “Uh huh, and you can come to it with me if you
want.” I wanted to burst into
tears. And THEN, Snow White gave Avery a
big red kiss on the forehead!!!!!!!
Avery was over the moon, especially when she got back to the hotel and
saw her forehead in the mirror.
Matt had the great idea to press Avery’s forehead into her
autograph book beside Snow White’s name.
I knew I kept him around for something!
;-)
We went back to the hotel and tried to rest for a little
bit. I think the kids expended more energy asking if it was time to get up and
proclaiming they weren’t tired than if we had just gone to the pool or
something!!!
We put on princess dinner worthy clothes and headed back to
Epcot.
There was no line for Spaceship Earth (aka Pops’ golf ball) so we hopped
on. Our photos were used as part of the
show……Matt and Avery didn’t have the camera in their car with them so here are
a few photos of Will and me.
We did the Princess Dinner at the Royal Askershus Banquet Hall. More on that later! After dinner, the boys jetted off to ride Maelstrom and Avery and I did a
little walking around. Will really loved this ride and we let him select a
treat that night (you know, to even the score after the Duffy the Bear
debacle). He picked out a viking shield and sword.
Back to the hotel a little later than we wanted to be, but everyone slept good. Off to a big day at Magic Kingdom on Day 3!!!
OH MY WORD!! This was an excellent post!, so many wonderful pictures,
ReplyDeleteBeing a bear lover..I think Duffy is worth at least 30.00. The look on Avery's face with Snow White is priceless!
What are you feeding will? He is getting so tall!
