Day 3: Magic Kingdom
Due to crowd calendars, we delayed our visit to the
Magic Kingdom until the middle part of our week. And if what we
experienced was a 4 out of 10 instead of a 7 out of 10 earlier in the
week, let me just say that I am SO GLAD we waited, even though it meant
we were all a little more tired than maybe I wanted us to be. After all,
this park by far had the most to do for the kids. Once again, we
followed excellent advice and were there before park opening.
We got to see the pre-show.
And
then it was off to Fantasyland! Dumbo was our first stop. We were one
of the first I guess maybe 200 people through the gate and made a
beeline to Dumbo and we still had about a 10 minute wait. Avery was
much more content to stay down low.
After
Dumbo, it was time to try Barnstormer. A fairly tame little
roller coaster that I thought still packed a punch. Probably b/c the
seats were tiny and just getting in and out of the cars was hard! Matt
and I both rode with Will, so he got to ride a few times.
We then made
the tour around Fantasyland….tea cups, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan (what a
disappointment!) and of course It’s a Small World. Finally a ride that
Avery semi-enjoyed!!
On
the ride, she mentioned that she thought these little girls needed to
put their dresses down because she could see their "underwears". I guess she has heard that a few times in her
life!!!!
She and Matt also had an incredibly funny conversation where he tried to explain platypuses to her. We actually talked about them at dinner tonigh and she remembered they were juggling. I didn't remember that! She actually remembered a lot of stuff I had forgotten!!
She liked the carousel too….
As long as you didn’t walk away from her!
We had a picnic lunch on a bench in front of the castle and caught the tail end of one of the parades.
And
then off to Adventureland and Frontierland. Will and Matt rode Splash
Mountain. Will LOVED it. My little adventure boy! I tried to get Avery
to nap in the stroller but that didn’t work.
A little exploring on Tom Sawyer’s Island. Wasn’t really a hit with anyone though.
A
show in the Enchanted Tiki Room and then a romp around the Swiss Family
Robinson Tree House. Again, neither were show stoppers.
I
left them after the Tiki Room to go snag a spot on the parade route.
The parade was a lot of fun and had tons of characters. Will and Avery
had fun, but they were pretty hot and tired by this point so basically
just lounged in the stroller and watched.
We got them a little ice cream treat because it was hot out on the asphalt. Well, hot means melt!!!
We decided to make ONE more stop and see Minnie and Mickey. We were waiting in line, thankfully in the A/C, and we were finally at the front of the line. All of a sudden there was a knock at the door in front of us. The cast member opened the door for Will and Avery and who was behind it but Mickey Mouse!!! Wow, they kids were so excited!!!! Avery was practically trying to climb on Mickey's back from our arms!
Two sets of mouse ears later and we are one tired gang.
Morning Modins and Happy Memorial Day...boy am I enjoying your vacation and I haven't spent a dime.
ReplyDeleteI take it Ms. Avery was not a fan of the merry go round but did indeed love the tunnel. Children are so funny you just never know with will tickle their fancy are scare the pants off them.
Hugs and love
