The children had been so excited about our annual tradition of ginger bread house decorating. I found a kit this year that had multiple little houses, which was neat because we each had our own to decorate. We ran out of time in Raleigh and ended up bringing them to Beaufort with us for the weekend, which worked out great because there were 5 houses and 5 of us!
Prep Time:
Yes, they were patriotic gingerbread houses.
Our gingerbread engineer is hard at work studying the shop drawings.
Sissy had so much fun with her bears on the roof design!
Sir William was very serious but had a lot of fun!
My ski chalet!
Mom had a lot of fun with hers. Although it did fall apart the first time….we just needed more adhesive…..so we broke out the Elmer’s glue!
Finally Matt gets to work on his!
Some of the smaller decorators ate a lot of the décor…..sooooooo….we had to raid the cabinets. And ended up with some lemon verbena on the houses. Hey, it’s moss like!
Our inspiration:
I think ours look just perfect!
It wasn’t too long before Avery’s was completely undecorated…and in her tummy!
Matt and Cecily came over later to celebrate Christmas. My boys peeling shrimp.
Finally, the kids could open presents! They had been waiting mostly patiently for a whole day! Avery got a diamond cross necklace from Pops, courtesy of his earth angel NaNa.
So I did a really stinky job of taking pics of the younger adults and their gifts. Oh well.
And then we surprised Mom with a new TV for her bedroom. She had been complaining about her old, old TV recently so we did some scheming and got her a new one. Needless to say, she was excited!
Check out Ken doing push ups, trying to impress the new Barbie ladies!
