Last weekend we went to a NCSU baseball game. Long story short, it wasn’t the game time we planned on going to but the game scheduled for the day before was rained out so a double header had to be played on Sunday, yada yada yada. We ended up doing to the earlier game and boy am I glad we did!
It was raining a little off and on and very cool to start the game, but it didn’t bother us! We were practically the only people in the bleachers on the 3rd base line for a while!
Despite the weather, the little one decided she wanted a snow cone. She brought her own money for it! Matt said they had to fire up the machine for her!!! I have a feeling she was the only snow cone customer that day.
While Matt and Avery were gone, the sports marketing folks were around doing t-shirt tosses and for once in our lives, t-shirts were actually tossed in the general vicinity of someone in my family and Will actually got one. While he was still celebrating and looking at his new (huge) shirt, we were approached by one of the sports marketing folks. She asked if Will would like to be “Wolfpup of the Game” which basically meant he got to sit in the press box during the 5th inning and call out the NCSU lineup as the players went up to bat.
Ummmm, yes we will!!! Here he is hanging out in the press box before the bottom part of the inning.
He did really good. He was fairly quiet and subdued, which surprised me. He pronounced the hard names with no issues. Too bad the Wolfpack went 3 up, 3 down that inning so his tenure as the announcer was short. He found some time to tell some long stories though, like how the name Modlin was Polish and how many games he had been to during his whole life, etc…. Ha!
After we left the press box, he finally let some emotion show and told me how excited he was. He was excited he was tracked out because when he got back to school he would have time to tell his classmates about this because just after a weekend they weren’t given the opportunity to formally share any fun stories.
Matt got some cute videos…I didn’t even see Will’s name up on the scoreboard! And I love how Avery is losing her mind when she realizes that Bubba’s name up there! Hopefully in about 10 years we’ll see it up there again….when he is the starting shortstop for the Wolfpack!!!!!
Go Wolfpack!
WELL, Will you taught me something...I didn't know Modlin was Polish!!! What an interesting family fact! Bravo on being a WulfPup and I know for sure you'll be on the team for real before you know it.
ReplyDeleteLove to you all Cecilia Go Pack!!!
