Wedding Bells

Last weekend, my brother, Matt, and Cecily got married!!  It was such a beautiful, intimate celebration. Thankfully, after almost a week solid of rain, the weather let up and Friday and Saturday were such nice fall days.

Will and Avery were both in the wedding. I’ve said this comment a lot in the past week +: Having two children in a wedding was much more stressful than my OWN wedding!! 

But they both did great and were super cute. The downside of having 2 kids in a wedding is between taking care of them and just other random family things, I rarely had a camera in my hand so I didn’t take a ton of pictures. In fact, I’m not even sure the photographer got a picture of just Will and Avery. I’m so upset!!

Avery and I headed down Thursday morning and helped Mom and Dad decorate the rehearsal dinner, which was at Clawson’s, one of our family’s favorite restaurants.  Take a tour of the rehearsal dinner decor!

The jewelry pieces by all of the candles were from my great-grandmother's extensive costume jewelry collection. The pieces all looked so pretty sparkling in the candle light that night.

One last view of things before the guests arrive. The Hershey’s Kisses were in GG Jane’s candy dish from her kitchen table…which was always full of Hershey’s Kisses. I think my dad maybe was the only one who ever ate them! Well, and Will once he came along!

Sunshine and Avery were a great help with the decorating! Avery also got to watch my high school’s homecoming parade out the (dirty!!) window while Mom and I finished up a few things.

The wedding was held in the backyard of a local bed and breakfast.  The rehearsal was full of laughs….and some not so great behavior from the kids.  Try and ignore the grey leggings….pick your battles!

Spelling Bee

After an unintentional blogging hiatus (just nothing exciting happening!!), I have to document this funny and sorta sad exchange with Will from last Monday.

On Mondays, all of his schoolwork from the previous week is sent home.  For the first time all year, he didn't get a perfect score on his weekly spelling test.  I brought it up and he went ballistic....took off running and crying. 

I found him in the corner of the bonus room, hiding behind a few things, just sobbing.  He said, "I will never get into NC State with grades like that. Sniff, sniff.  I'll have to go someplace like Carolina."
