Closing Out 2014

As to follow with my little blogging tradition, a post to close out 2014.  It’s been a good year, with blessings abound. I started a new job that allows me tons of flexibility, which is great for the state of our lives right now. Avery started kindergarten and has blossomed big time. Will has made significant progress in some aspects of his life. We went on a fabulous Disney Cruise with my mom.  And as of post time, we are still awaiting the arrival of a special little guy into the Glancy family.

But, I’ve been tired this year though and I feel like I’ve lost some of my “mojo”. I don’t stress over coordinated birthday parties quite as much as I used to and a few dog hair dust bunnies in the corner sit there a little longer than they used to. As I was prepping myself to write this post I re-read my previous years’ NYE posts. I believe it was the 2012 year-end post where I remarked that I was essentially waiting for the “ball to the drop” in 2013. No, not the ball in Times Square but the ball that finally knocked the wind out of me and made me finally realize the magnitude of some of the things life has thrown at me in the last few years. It didn’t happen in 2013, as I was too busy trying to keep everyone else afloat. Everything caught up with me in 2014 though.

But it only takes me about a minute of grief or worry or sadness to remember that life really and truly is wonderful and God has done some amazing things in my life and will continue to do so.  Things haven’t always turned out like I wanted them to but what does that matter? Nothing at all because it was, and is, all part of God’s plan. I have been learning to trust in him and lean on him whole heartedly these past few years because for sure I couldn’t do this alone. I’m thankful I don’t have to. I pray every night that others can find God’s peace in their lives and just “be happy” because of it.

My wishes for 2015, in no particular order:

-Get my “mojo” back, or at least some of it!

-Get the cruise and holiday weight back off

-Save some $$ for a few projects around the house that I am excited about

-Actually make said projects happen

-Find more clarity along my career path

-Continue trying to be more of a “yes” mom and a “yes” friend

For the 3rd year in a row, Matt and I will be ringing in the new year with our “friends” The Avett Brothers.  We’ll be sitting with some of our real best friends in the world.  Truly, life doesn’t get much better than that.

I’ll close out 2014 with some (ok it ended up being A LOT) of my favorite pictures from the year. I sure do love my little life!

Happy New Year!!!

Christmas Morning

The crazies slept until close to 7, which was good because Mommy and Daddy stayed up way too late. Will got up first and then went and sweetly woke up his sister. Well, as sweetly as one can when he is waiting to go downstairs. I had gotten up early to take the dogs out and feed them as well as get my contacts in, which made for a slightly less crazy morning once the kids woke up.

Isn’t it mean to make them pose for a picture when me and my camera are the only thing standing between them and presents!!??!! IMG_4660 IMG_4661 IMG_4662

And the chaos begins….

And what family picture would be complete without Sunshine and her new big sister, Isabelle.

Christmas afternoon we headed to Mimi’s house for more gifts and family fun.

Big G and little g gave the kids Nerf guns. The whole neighborhood got Nerf guns so they all have been having a lot of fun these past few days.

The Charlotte crew arrived and it was time for another round of gifts.

It’s hard for a 5 year old to wait her turn to open gifts!

Ted gave me my very own lunch box so I can stop carrying Avery’s monogrammed lunch box to work!

Hard to believe the festivities have already come and gone and everything is back in the attic.

Merry Christmas 2014!
