Avery is 6!

As you start a new year, a few things to remember about you:

IMG_3249
-You weigh 53.4lbs and are about 49in tall.

-You wear a size 6 or 7 in clothes and you still detest buttons.

-Will is still your favorite person by far and if he is poking at you like all brothers do, it makes you so upset. But at the same time, no one makes you happier than your Bubba.

-Sunshine is still always in your arms. Except for when she falls out of your bed multiple times a night and you start screaming for me to come get her. I am seriously contemplating putting the bed rails back up on your bed so I can get some sleep.

-Your fave foods are pickles and tomatoes. And candy.

-You start t-ball in a few weeks. I can’t wait to see you play! You spend so much of your life at a baseball field…and now you are about to spend even more!

-You are having an absolutely terrific year in kindergarten. Your teacher says you are a joy to have in the classroom and always set good examples for your classmates.

-You love to play with your Barbies and Legos……especially if Will is playing with them too. You also love to climb trees and play roll-a-bat.

-You and I are still fashion friends and foes! While we love to watch Say Yes to the Dress and go shoe shopping, our tastes are very different. Although I will say most of your tastes lately are purposefully in direct conflict with mine. Oh, I can’t wait for the teenage years!

-We found out on our recent trip to Florida that you love roller coasters, which is so fun and so surprising, considering that riding in the car gives you a massive headache. Every. Single. Time.

-You are becoming more and more of a Daddy’s girl….I suspect because you and I spend so much time together, you are starting to cherish that time you do get with your dad even more.

-You love your new cousin and have even given him the nickname “Walter Bubba.” I will never forget the look on your face the first time you saw him.

Avery, I love you with all my heart. I know sometimes you don’t get all the attention you need and I know it hurts and I’m sorry for that. But I treasure every moment I get to spend with you, even that 3AM “Sunshine’s on the floor” retrieve because I get to kiss your sweet cheek one more time. I can’t wait to see what t-ball season and first grade bring for you!

I love you,

Mommy

A Fun Weekend

We had a really busy but really fun (except for my multi-hour, multi-hundreds of $$ trip to Wal-Mart) weekend.  We kicked it off on Friday night with a celebratory dinner at Mimi’s house. We were celebrating Easter and Greta’s birthday.

As always, Aunt G finds at least one little helper!

Will was too busy playing with Wilson to be bothered with earrings and girl clothes!

IMG_3176

After dinner we had our own little version of the Avett Brothers going on (except this was the Modlin’s!!). Gray on his banjo, Matthew on his guitar and Greta on her mandolin.  Avery was having so much fun dancing and directing them!

IMG_3179 IMG_3183 IMG_3184 IMG_3186

Me, well I had a lap full of pugs, which is why all the pics are from the same angle because I couldn’t move!

IMG_3193

Avery took a try at the mandolin….

Saturday’s events included a hair appt for me, a ball game for Will and Wal-Mart. The only thing picture worthy is the ball game! I’ve got to do better at taking pictures this season. Will is playing sooooo good this year!  He’s hit several triples and 2 home runs, including a grand slam last week. He’s on a good team this year and they are playing really well.

I promise to take more pics at the next game!

After church on Sunday Mimi took “us girls” to see Sleeping Beauty at Raleigh Little Theater.

IMG_3211

Of course Sunshine went with us. She is always up to some shenanigans, especially when Aunt Greta is around!!  ;-)

IMG_3210

The plan was really good but a little dark and scary in parts. Avery wanted to “go to the bathroom” right after a scary part, which was code for “get me outta here!”.  Bless her heart, as we opened the bathroom door, a baby cried inside and it scared the life out of Avery. She went running across the lobby!!

But afterwards she was all smiles. She loved seeing the fairies in the show and loved loved loved getting autographs afterwards. She talked about the play for the rest of the night, including randomly telling people about it in SteinMart!

A great weekend and a short work week for me this week. Life is good!

Easter 2015

He is risen!!

IMG_5067

We celebrated Easter with a wonderful weekend at the coast.  It was a little cool and rainy on Saturday morning so the church egg hunt had to be moved inside but it was still fun.

Before the rain started, I was able to get a few pics of the kids in front of the Easter Egg tree in mom’s front yard. The wind kept blowing the eggs off!

IMG_4966 IMG_4969

And then I made them pose some more at church while waiting for the egg hunt to start!

IMG_4970

Look who joined us for his first egg hunt!

IMG_4971 IMG_4996 IMG_4997

My good friend Tiffany and her girls were down visiting her mom as well and they came over to hunt eggs with us. I laugh that these pictures look like an advertisement for my sewing business!!!

IMG_4975

Having a piece of candy, or in Avery’s case more like 100, after the hunt was over.IMG_5000

I love how Gabrielle is always so cooperative and smiley for pictures! W&A, take lessons!!

A few bad pics of some fun games…..

IMG_5006 IMG_5007 IMG_5010

After lunch at the Royal James, we went home to relax and get ready for Easter dinner. I also had to run to my fave story, Hobby Lobby, and get some fabric for some more t-shirt orders I need to do.

Once Matt, Cecily and Walter got over, we dyed eggs!

IMG_5018 IMG_5019 IMG_5023 IMG_5024 IMG_5026 IMG_5028 IMG_5030 IMG_5032

After a traditional and yummy Easter dinner, everyone hit the hay so the Easter bunny could come….and come he did!

IMG_5036 IMG_5038 IMG_5039 IMG_5040 IMG_5041

It was a little too cool and wet outside for the Easter Bunny to hide eggs outside, so they were inside. Too bad Mom found a real egg that we hadn’t found like 3 days later!! Oops!

IMG_5043 IMG_5044

A view pics of everyone dressed up……obviously Avery’s bow was a little loose!

IMG_5053 IMG_5054 IMG_5056 IMG_5059 IMG_5062 IMG_5065 IMG_5067 IMG_5068

And then my favorite little egg hunter in the onesie I got him for Easter!

T-R-O-U-B-L-E

There really aren’t a lot of words needed to describe these pictures from when Avery and I went out for a little shoe shopping the other day……just “Matt and I are going to be in sooooooo much trouble.”
