Matt's Birthday!

Sunday was Matt's birthday....the big 3-5.  That sounds really old.  And I can only say that because I will be 35 in a few months. Bummah.

We had a very busy day!! It started with our early riser bounding out of her room, announcing she was ready to make cookies. She had received a sugar cookie mix, cookie cutters and decorating stuff the night before as a gift and who knew she was so excited about it!!  She was downstairs, banging around with pots and pans and spoons before her cooking mate, aka Daddy, had even opened an eye. She eventually got him out of bed and away they went!

How excited is she to be cooking with Daddy?

I had to run to the grocery store bright and early and since our oven was unexpectedly busy, we couldn't do our ritual Sunday morning breakfast cupcakes, aka Pillsbury cinnamon rolls. So I picked up Bojangles.

The cookies were out of the oven just in time for us to leave for church, with a promise for iced and decorated cookies once we returned.

Matt has been dying for some sushi. The kids have not. So we combined two sets of wishes and ended up at Kanki. The children had never been. I figured Will would love it. Loud. Flashy. Just like him. And I assumed Avery would hate it. She hates smells and noise (when she isn't making it). But they both had a good time and while they didn't try anything off the hibachi grill, they thoroughly enjoyed using their chopsticks.

Once we got home, Will settled into our bed for some Grinch and Avery and Matt set out on icing and decorating cookies. Avery was more into QC with all of her icing tasting.  When they ran out of icing, Matthew made her some more. Purple of course, because that is her favorite color.

We had a pretty good afternoon at home. Just us. After the events earlier in the weekend, family time is PRECIOUS.

The kids had picked out hot dogs for dinner for Matthew but after our big lunch, we settled on sandwiches. And a poorly decorate NCSU cake. But it was Devil's Food so it tasted good!

Matthew had lots of help blowing out his candle!

Happy Birthday, Matt!

  1. The cake was not poorly decorated, it looks awesome! I need to make Pete one with the NC State cake mold you gave us! :)
