Y’all know I’m a beach girl through and through. I love nothing better than to have some salt water in my hair and sand between my toes. I was so glad to get to the coast for Memorial Day, awful traffic and all!
Saturday morning Mom and I did a little shopping while the kids and Matt went to Fort Macon. No pics to show. Boo!!! But of course Will loved the fort and was very upset they couldn’t stay for the canon firing later that day. Avery, on the other hand, was very glad they weren’t staying for the canon firing!
Wait, I should back up. Saturday morning at 4AM the girls woke up. This was the first time they had been to the beach since I think Christmas 2012. They love it down there so they get up E-A-R-L-Y. So we got up too and got them out of the house so everyone else could sleep. Off to the café, the boardwalk, the beach and the café again. I went for a run on the waterfront too. The girls were happy to have sand between their toes too. I guess they get that from their momma!
That afternoon Uncle Matt and Aunt Cecily took us out in the boat. We went to a shoal behind Carrot Island….as we were idling up to shore a bunch of sharks swam by. Like big sharks. At least to me. Sharks are kind of like snakes….any shark or snake is a bad one!
And there were huge sting rays too! Thankfully we weren’t affected but you better believe I didn’t get in the water!
Sunday morning the boys and the girls got up early…the boys to fish, the girls to be adventurous. Too bad for them I was tired and didn’t take them anywhere!
The boys waiting at the dock for Uncle Matt.
And off they go!
You know my boy, he LOVES him so sleep, as evidenced by this picture!
He also loves him some fish!
Sunday we went to my childhood stomping grounds at the beach, Oceana. I’ve spent a many of days swimming by this pier!
Avery loved jumping the waves!
Will spent a long time with his skim board. Well, technically it was Uncle Matt’s, but I think it may be Will’s now!
Both kiddos love boogey boarding, but somehow I don’t have a pic of Will on his!
Yay for summer!!
Oh I'm so late but thank goodness you took a ton of great photos. What fun and the 'girls' were the first beach girls in your family of dependents. they even look happy!! Sting rays ugg they spoil everything.
