After months of hearing her cry about wanting to play soccer like Bubba, we finally found a league for 3 year olds that wasn't during the day during the week. One set of pink cleats and purple socks and shorts later, and Avery is ready for soccer! Her best bud on the team has the same outfit going on, only in pink!
And guess what...she hated it!!! And it wasn't entirely her fault. This
was the first year our YMCA had done the 3 year old league and they
modeled it after the older leagues and it just didn't work for this
young of an age. 9-12 minutes sitting on the sideline, waiting to sub
in, meant about 98% of the players became disinterested and never even
set foot on the field.
Last week, the Y tried a new approach and Avery got to play the whole
time. And she loved it. And she did GREAT. She scored her first goal
ever and never even let the opposing team play offense. She kept taking
the ball away from them and turning it back towards her team's goal. All
that rough front yard play with Bubba is paying off!!
Of course snack time is still her favorite part of the morning!!
